Whatever your value systems are in your business,

Whatever your value systems are in your business, social media should reflect that.

There's a lot of cancel culture happening on social media right now. There are a lot of people being called out. There's a lot of people making statements about things where you go, "Do they really believe this? Or they're just saying something because they want to say something?"

Here's how I like to think about it: If I have a service-based business and I don't really need that many clients and I'm just on social media trying to show my expertise and my personality and what it's like working with me, that's really just a reflection of what's happening in my business at the time.

So, if you're going to make a statement - like if something's happening in the news - you want that to come from what's already happening internally in my business.

If it's not something that was a conversation with a team or you talked about it internally first, there's no reason to say, "Let's have a statement on social media." It's showcasing something that's inauthentic.

Lead with your values on social media. That's how you bring authenticity to your message and make those genuine connections.

Then, when something comes up you do want to make a statement about, you're not scrambling to come up with something, the values are already in place.

I love connecting with these talented individuals! We shared ideas and chatted about who inspires us online. It was a fantastic way to start my day.

I was reminded this week about how undeniably HARD doing something new feels.

Whew, I feel like as adults, we sometimes expect to have “learned” everything already. We made it right?
˙
We can feed ourselves, walk, talk, pay bills, run businesses… so we’ve learned everything we need to?
˙
Right?
˙
Wrong. Learning something new puts us in this vulnerable spot that is so uncomfortable that we feel frustrated with the newness of it all.
˙
And since we can’t fast forward past the new uncertainty of learning, we have to sit with it.
˙
I find that as business owners, this is especially hard because we want to be done with the learning part and move on to the thriving part.
˙
But remember, thriving requires learning. It requires failing. It requires starting again and again. Thriving requires showing up for yourself.
˙
To get to step 100, you have to start with step 1.
