What do you think is more important on social media – quantity or quality? I think you know the answer….
| In Summary |
Today I’m talking all about quality versus quantity on social media. The idea for this video came from a recent blog post, which gives my 50 do’s and don’ts of Instagram. One of those tips was focus on quality and not quantity when it comes to social sharing. Let’s dive in!
Followers: Quantity vs Quality
It’s 100% human to look at the number of followers you have and measure your social media success by that number. Forget that number. Quality is definitely more important than quantity when it comes to social media followers.
Focus on the followers that are actually interested in what you have to say. You want followers who engage and who participate in the things that you post by sharing, liking, and commenting. And just overall pay attention.Forget the numbers game & focus on the followers that actually care. #socialmediatip Click To Tweet
Social Networks: Quantity vs Quality
There are so many social media platforms out there, and you really can make an argument for being productive on any one of them for your business. At the end of the day, which platform(s) you choose comes down to resources.
Ask yourself these questions: Do you have enough time to be on all those social media accounts and still be effective? Do you have enough cash flow to pay someone like me to be on all those social media accounts?
It’s more effective and impactful to launch one social media account, and focus on it. Don’t spread yourself too thin because your profiles and content can grow tired and uninspiring. Instead, start with what you can commit to and layer in other social media accounts as time goes on.
Content: Quality vs Quantity
The last thing I talk about in this video is the actual content that you post on social media. Anyone can tweet 10,000 times a day, and it can just be BS — nobody cares.
Focus on creating quality posts that your audience is actually interested in. Now I’ve talked about this before, but I’m a huge fan of the 80/20 rule. Eighty of the content that you post is fun, engaging, enlightening, entertaining, etc; and the other 20% contains a call to action for promoting your products.
For 80% of the time, what do you share? You find other things that your audience likes. By doing this, you’re getting their attention, and you’re also giving them value besides just promoting your products. That’s just a simple way that you can have quality posts on social media, without bombarding them with 10 posts all about how awesome your product bar is.On #socialmedia, quality wins every time.Click To Tweet
Those are my 3 topics for today on quantity versus quality. And obviously, quality wins every time. Whether it’s talking about followers, whether it’s talking about social media platforms, or whether it’s talking about the actual content that you post on those platforms.
